Alyssa + Craig + their kids = one big happy family!

When you meet Alyssa you see quickly that she is energetic and loves photography. She's the only person I know with more that 100K pics on her phone- no fooling! She and Craig each have two children. While all of the kids are great, Matt is extra amazing as he faced down cancer and won the fight! Way to go Matt- we love you!

Alyssa & Craig chose Terraview at Stroudsmoor Country Inn for their ceremony and reception. Terraview looks & feels like a castle. I has waterfalls and sweeping views of Cherry Valley. The outdoor ceremony site was the setting for the ceremony. A very cool note- their children were the bridal party. Great music and lighting from Rob at Extreme Excellence Entertainment! Fall Colors Set Tone for Alexandra & Ben's Wedding!

Ridgecrest at Stroudsmoor Country Inn was the perfect setting for Alexandra & Ben's wedding! They tied the knot on October 18th and the leaves in the Poconos were definitely peaking on their wedding day. 175 of their friends relatives gathered to watch them say their vows with Cherry Valley as their backdrop. If you've never been to Ridgecrest to take in the view I recommend you do so asap!

This is the first wedding I've been to where the groom serenaded the guests and played the guitar as well. Well done Ben!

I was happy to have Bryan from Icarus Image working with me at the wedding. Here are some more of our favorite photos from the wedding.

Darian & Jared tie the knot at The Architects Golf Club!

It's only fitting that two avid golfers would chose an amazing golf course as the setting for their wedding. So it was no surprise when Darian & Jared picked The Architects Golf Club to host their wedding ceremony and reception.

I've played the course (very badly) many times but theirs was my first wedding there. It's always exciting to work at a new venue and The Architects did not disappoint! After the ceremony we grabbed a golf cart and headed out to a few of their fave spots on the course. Here are our best shots from their big day!

As they prepare to start a family of their own, MaKayla & Matt tied the knot in front of 100 of their friends & family last weekend! Trout Lake made an amazing backdrop for their outdoor ceremony.

This was my second wedding at Trout Lake and as you can see the property holds many great spots for photography. Nestled in the woods near Tannersville, Trout Lake is truly off the beaten path. It's natural setting appealed to MaKayla and Matt and their adventurous spirits. I pulled together some of my favorite photos from their wedding day. Thanks for having a look!

Heather & Mike say 'we do'!

After photographing Heather through the years for the Pocono Record, it was only natural that we would connect for her wedding photography. I met Mike at their engagement session and could tell instantly they were a perfect match! Both are big-hearted and serve the community through their work.

Their wedding ceremony was at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Bethlehem, Pa. It's not the first time I've heard a priest tell jokes but Rev. Abraham Ha really did kill it! After the ceremony we took over Lehigh University for some photos of the bridal party. Then we were off to Northampton Community Center where The A Band led the rest of the night. It was quite a bash with hours and hours of dancing!

Tying the knot at a Poconos B & B

Situated midway between their two families, Stone Lake Inn in Saylorsburg was the perfect setting for Tye and Kevin's wedding last weekend. Nestled in farmland in the southern Poconos, Stone Lake Inn sits across from a private airstrip. A hanger on the property has been converted to a reception site.

Kevin first saw Tye on the wedding day as we captured the first look at the historic covered bridge behind the Inn. Tye and Kevin exchange their vows in a quaint chapel on the property. From there we headed lakeside for some family photos.

The rest of the night was all about dinner and dancing in the former airplane hanger and spending time with family and friends time around the bonfire. Thank you for checking out my bog and photos from Tye and Kevin's big day!

Caught on Camera! Surprise Proposal in the Poconos!

Once again I was staked out the in woods yesterday on a mission. Look unassuming while ready to capture the moment Michael proposes to Kathleen. For those of you who read my blog, you know I love to capture proposals without the bride noticing me. It's a delicate balance of hiding out, blending in and being ready to catch the moment.

Michael and Kathleen live in Virginia and he contacted me weeks ago to arrange for me to be there when he proposed. It took some serious coordination on our part but we pulled it off. I was in a perfect spot as he dropped to one knee at Raymondskill Falls in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. Thankfully, she said yes!

After the proposal we explored the park to take more photos celebrating their engagement. There are so many great spots for engagement photos all over the Poconos. I have a few secret spots around the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. If you are planning on proposing, you should consider hiring a professional photographer to capture the moment.

High School Sweethearts Tie the Knot at Mountain Springs Lake Resort!

They knew in 10th grade they were destined to be together forever. Amanda and Arie have been together every since. They even work together- at Mountain Spring Lake Resort. So it was no surprise they chose that venue for their wedding this summer. It was like a family reunion for the staff and the bride and groom as two of their own said 'we do' last week.

After a super romantic first look by the red barn, we started with some family formal photos. Of all the places for formal photos in the Poconos, the pond at Mountain Springs Lake Resort is hard to beat for a backdrop! We even slipped away from the family for a few extra romantic photos on the property.

Stephanie from Journeys of the Heart (http://www.journeysoftheheart.org) had the honor of officiating the marriage outside on a perfect summer day. After the ceremony, guests ate and drank in the courtyard while we finished some formal photos. Then we moved inside for dinner and dancing lead by DJ Dave Kish (http://www.djdavekish.com).

One Bride & Groom, Two Barns & one irrestable Bulldog

Although they went to different high schools, Nicole and Tanner were high school sweethearts. Chalk that up to getting jobs at Texas Roadhouse restaurant. That's where they fell in love with line dancing and each other.

Fast forward more than decade later and they are still dancing and very much in love! Both of those loves showed when they tied the knot last week at Memorytown USA (http://www.memorytownusa.com) in Mount Pocono.

Tanner was moved to tears when he saw Nicole walking down the aisle in the small barn. After the ceremony we made our way to the big barn for dinner and the reception. Piggles, the bulldog, did his best to steal the show (see photos)!

Nicole is a reporter at TV-13 and covers news around Monroe county. Tanner spends his days tackling tree work for Asplundh Tree Expert and in his free time he fights fires as a volunteer at Plainfield Township Volunteer Fire Company.

It was awesome being there to document their wedding alongside their friends and families!

Jen & Eric say 'we do' at Sand Springs Country Club

Jen and Eric had a perfect spring day yesterday for their wedding. Here are some of my favorite photos from one of my favorite venues in the Poconos! I teamed up with Melissa Krycia and we documented all of the action at Sand Springs Country Club.

Eloping to the Pocono Mountains in the Winter!

With their second child on the way, Ellen and Brent decided to tie the knot. They new they wanted to elope with a few members of their family. After some online research they learned the Poconos are a hotspot for elopement weddings. They contacted Alisa Tongg, a local celebrant and they quickly hit it off with her. They chose to have her preform their ceremony at her quaint venue, The Living Wall at Promise Ridge.

Both Ellen and Brent wanted to have a snowy backdrop for their wedding. Thanks to a recent snowstorm, they got their wish. They also got fresh snow on their wedding day! It added to the natural beauty of Promise Ridge and made for a magical setting for their ceremony.

Winter wedding (minus the snow) @ Stroudsmoor Country Inn

Brianna and Zach hoped for a snowy backdrop for their wedding in late February. That's usually a given in the Poconos. Instead, they got 70 degrees and a vicious thunderstorm! We made the most of the stunningly warm weather and got fantastic photos at Stroudsmoor Country Inn!

They had their first look at Smile Spot #3 at Stroudsmoor Country Inn. It was a perfect setting although the wind was whipping. From there we headed to Lawnhaven for their ceremony. Within seconds of their guests filing into Lawnhaven after the ceremony, the sky opened up and chased us all inside. Check out my photos of Brianna and Zach making a run for it!

The night featured a great dinner and tons of dancing. DJ Rockin' Ron brought along plenty of props to add to the festivities. We have the photos of that as well!

High School Sweethearts marry 50 years later

Edward and Alice were high school sweethearts in the 1960's in Wayne county, Pennsylvania. After high school, Ed joined the Navy and they fell out of touch. Ed married and settled in the mid-west. Alice married and stayed close to home. Years later they bought lost their spouses. Barbara, Alice's sister mentioned to her that Ed had just moved back the area. They were reintroduced last October and the sparks flew once again!

After just two months, Ed popped the question and Alice said 'yes'. They decided to tie the knot in Alice's lifelong church, St. Mary's Church in Ledgedale. WNEP-TV heard about their story and jumped on it. They did a touching story about the wedding. See it here: http://bit.ly/2n7nF1U

Early Winter Wedding in the Poconos

Tanya and Johnny knew the Poconos is where they wanted to tie the knot. It's a perfect escape from New York City where they both live and work. Their ceremony was at Pocono Grace Church and from there we headed to Riverview Country Club.

Perfect wedding in a quaint setting

If you've never been to The Settlers Inn, it's worth a drive to Hawley, Pennsylvania to see it. Set along the Lackawaxen River, the Inn serves amazing food and has great rooms for lodging. The bar is fantastic and the grounds and gardens are amazing. The Potting Shed is a cute gift shop in the back of the property. Built in the 1920's, the Inn is gorgeous inside and out!

Those are among the reasons Jamie and Eric chose The Settlers Inn for their wedding in mid-October. It's just a 45-minute drive from their home in Stroudsburg and it was a convenient meeting place for their friends and families. It was a perfect fall day for their outdoor ceremony. The river made a great backdrop for their vow exchange.

After the ceremony, guests were treated to drinks and hors d'oeuves on the patio. As dinner was served, the Dave Lantz Trio started playing their music set the mood for the rest of the night.

Courthouse wedding and fall celebration!

It's awesome when couples get married at the courthouse and still book me to photograph their wedding celebration. Jennifer and Alex did just that. A few days after they were married by Judge Worthington, we got together to take family portraits in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. Best friends get married at Stroudsmoor Country Inn!

By the time Steven and Tricia got married we knew each other very well. A few years ago I photographed Steven's younger sister's wedding at Skytop Lodge. Steven and Tricia are regulars at our restaurant so I get to see them often. If you know the two of them, you know they are truly best friends. Tricia is a fantastic person and Steven is a proud Air Force veteran who served our county during several tours in the Middle East.

Without Tricia knowing, Steven commissioned a local artist, Anna Kaszupski, to secretly create a painting to be unveiled at the wedding reception. Steven's idea went like this. At the end of their first dance, he planned to hand Tricia a bouquet of flowers as he dropped to one knee. He anticipated Tricia's reaction and asked Anna to create painting of the scene, including her reacting to the surprise unveiling. The result was phenomenal. Not only is the painting stellar, but Tricia's reaction was right on target. The staff, disc jockey and I all knew in advance about the surprise. TV Reporter Marries a Cop!

You may know Kelly Choate from her reporting on-air for WBRE-TV. She somehow managed to plan a wedding while covering her beat full-time! That's quite an accomplishment! She married her longtime beau- Scott, who is a police officer and all-around great guy! We all appreciate the service Scoot and all law enforcement officers do for our communities. I leaned on associate photographer Melissa Evanko for help with this wedding.

Hazelton Loves McAdoo- Christine & Anthony tie the knot!

The gap from Hazelton to McAdoo was bridged when Christine & Anthony got married last week! It was the union of the two nicest people in the world from the two nicest families. I worked with Anthony every now and then in the news business and it was great being part of his wedding. I teamed up with John Wirick Photography for this wedding so we had every angle covered!

The ceremony was held at All Saints Catholic Church, in McAdoo. After Christine's family church closed years ago, the diocese removed the alter and relocated it to All Saints Catholic Church. The alter is very special to Christine, who still sings in the church choir. The alter is amazing and makes an amazing backdrop for photos!

After the ceremony we caravanned to Sand Springs County Club for an absolutely fantastic dinner and party! If you know Anthony then you know he is a huge fan of Ric Flair. The robes they made for their introductions are a must see! Scroll down and have a look...

Tying the knot along the Delaware River in the Poconos

Of all the great wedding venues in the Poconos, Shawnee Inn has one of the best. The outdoor wedding site there, above and along the Delaware River, is one my favorite places to photograph a wedding ceremony. The old growth oak trees create a natural picture frame for the ceremony. And the river makes for a majestic backdrop for photos. It's a great venue for wedding guests as well. Afternoon weddings are shaded and cool among the giant trees.

Kendra and Kevin had a perfect summer day in early September. They live in Philadelphia and chose Shawnee for it's beauty and location in the mountains. Fellow photographer Melissa Evanko and I teamed up to cover every angle of their day- and night! It's great to have a second photographer as we can give two unique looks at the ceremony. Two Pocono locals say 'I do' at Stroudsmoor Country Inn!

When we met, it was obvious that Paul and Alyson's wedding would be a huge bash! Both are from the Poconos and they invited 200 of their friends and family to Stroudsmoor Country Inn. They chose Terraview for their venue and had perfect summer weather for their outside ceremony. All the outdoor venues at Stroudsmoor are awesome. The two waterfalls at Terrview make an impressive backdrop for photography.

Two docs tie the knot at Michener Art Musuem!

Surrounded by art on a perfect summer day, Sophie and Simon said 'we do' on Saturday at the James A. Michener Art Museum in Doylestown. As she was graduating from medical school at Jefferson University, Sophie was planning the final stages of her wedding. Simon had already graduated from medical school and has a dental practice in Doylestown.

These two doctors could not have been nicer! Their perfect ceremony was followed by an awesome party with music by Darrell from the “No Macarena” DJ in Philadelphia. Make sure you scroll through all the pictures to see the limo their friends surprised them with at the end of the night. That's right- its a Maserati stretch limo!

Tying the knot at Memorytown!

Amber & Dave knew Memorytown was the perfect setting for their wedding the first time they saw it! Their laid back style and rustic theme was the right fit for the barn and grounds at Memorytown. And they wanted a BBQ dinner for their guests and that's a specialty at Memorytown.

About 100 of their friends and family gathered by the lake to hear them say 'I do". The lake make an awesome backdrop for wedding ceremony photos. It's one of the most picturesque backgrounds in the Poconos. Here are my favorite shots from their perfect day! Thanks for looking.

Perfect Spring Wedding at Mountain Springs Lake Resort

What an amazing day at Mountain Springs Lake Resort for Tamara and Patrick's wedding! April is a great month to throw a wedding in the Poconos and the weather was perfect for an outdoor ceremony.

I got to know Tamara and Patrick last year as we set out in Philadelphia for a photo session celebrating their engagement. They are a great couple living in the heart of Philly. They brought their city style to a fabulous setting at Mountain Springs Lake Resort.

As you look through my pictures of their wedding you'll see a lot of small details. You'll also notice one big detail- the classic Excalibur car they hoped in at the end of the night. A sparkler sendoff led them straight to the car Patrick's father bought in Milwaukee in the 1970's. It's been in their family ever since.

Surprise proposal caught on camera!

One of my favorite photo shoots is a surprise proposal. Last weekend I had the chance to be there to capture the moment when Brandon proposed to his girlfriend, Nicky. Brandon contacted me on the down low and pitched the idea of me being there to document him proposing. I've done this a handful of times and its always a rush trying to be invisible but still capture the key moment.

Brandon and Nicky live near Harrisburg and spent the weekend in the Poconos to enjoy the great outdoors. They stayed at Mountaintop Lodge and he decided to propose on Lake Naomi.

Through some careful coordination, I was positioned nearby when he first serenaded her and then popped the question. She said yes!

Historic church, gorgeous reception and snow! A lot of snow!

Winter weddings in Pennsylvania are breathtaking. We always hope for snowy backgrounds but not snowy roads. That's exactly what we had for Jennelle and Aidan's wedding on January 30th. The week before, the Lehigh Valley got hammered with nearly three feet of snow. By the time of the wedding, the roads were clear but we had plenty of snow for our photos. It was a perfect setup for a perfect winter wedding.

The church, Holy Infancy, is in historic Bethlehem and was built in 1863. What an amazing setting for their wedding! If you haven't been inside, it's worth the trip.

From the church we ventured to my home away from home, Stroudsmoor Country Inn in the heart of the Pocono Mountains. Jennelle and Adian's reception was held inside Terra View, the newest and biggest venue at Stroudsmoor. It's one of five options for your wedding reception at Stroudsmoor Country Inn. It has fantastic photo ops inside and out. We took full advantage of the fresh snow and spent plenty of time outside for fun and snowy photos.

Winter engagement session @ Hickory Run State Park

When Amanda and Patrick said they wanted to do engagement photos in the snow, I was thrilled! Patrick is a park ranger at Hickory Run State Park so that was a easy choice for our setting. It's as scenic as any spot in the Poconos. All we needed was fresh snow which we got in mid-January. Patrick knows the park well and we started the engagement pictures at one of his favorite spots.

I got to know Ashley and Ron when we did there engagement pictures at the Philadelphia Museum of Art last year. They are a great couple and I knew their wedding would be a blast. And it was. The ceremony was at St. Martha Catholic Church in Philadelphia. From there the action moved to Celebrations in Bensalem. Brianna & Matt had perfect fall weather when they tied the knot at Memorytown on October 10th. As you probably know, we now offer cinematic style wedding films for your wedding. You can add it to a photography package or just book me to film your wedding if you have already found a photographer. We shoot in full HD and love to do creative editing in Final Cut Pro.

What an amazing day for Danielle & Jeremiah to tie the knot. I was excited to photograph a wedding on Long Island and to work with the super-talented photographer, Rachel Williams. Parish of St. Raphael is full of great natural light and the ceremony was perfect. From there ere we headed to Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury, NY for formals and the reception. After the ceremony we headed over to Crest Hollow Country Club. The place is simply amazing! We linked up with our wedding ambassador and got started on the formal photographs in the courtyard. Rachel posed everyone and we got phenomenal family and group portraits. We finished the formals as cocktail hour got started.

Then it was onto the reception for an amazing dinner and huge bash! Crest Hollow staff was fantastic and the food was off the charts. The DJ led the party and kept the dance floor packed all night.

Afternoon engagement photos at Washington Memorial Chapel

Washington Memorial Chapel, tucked inside Valley Forge National Historical Park, is a fantastic setting for engagement photos. One afternoon in May, Alex, Andy and I set out to take pictures celebrating their engagement. The Chapel, built in 1917, makes an amazing backdrop for photographs. On the grounds are unlimited spots to shoot photos. The inside of the Chapel is amazing but professional photography is not allowed inside.

Intimate City Hall wedding in San Francisco

Winter can't last forever, can it?

Just a quick update about what's going on this winter. Besides designing wedding albums & shoveling snow, we are gearing up for what should be an awesome upcoming wedding season.

We will see some of you in March at Stroudsmoor Country Inn's spring bridal menu tasting. It should be a great day in a great setting with, of course, great food! Here is a shot of Terraview in the winter.

And we are thrilled to announce our brand-new, state-of-the-art Photo Booth. We debuted it last fall and it was a huge hit! Lindsey and I even used it at our own wedding & have the hilarious pictures to prove it. If you're interested in a Photo Booth for your wedding, please email me ASAP as it is booking quickly for 2015 and 2016.

We are keeping the momentum we gained last year shooting cinematic style high definition video. I work with the best videographers in the area and our high def equipment is top of the line. We do some amazingly creative editing in Final Cut X.

I'm excited about the great engagement shoots lined up for the spring. We are going to jump on them as soon as the cold weather breaks. If you and your fiancé are interested in engagement pictures, just shoot me an email & we'll talk about some creative ideas to celebrate your engagement.

Meghan & Karl at Peace Valley Park!

Michele & Jason's wedding in the Orthodox Church in Stroudsburg

Elopement wedding at the French Manor in Sterling, Pa.

Looking for a great place to elope to & say I do in private? You should consider the French Manor in Sterling, Pa. It's a great little spot full of charm and awesome photo ops. It's a gorgeous setting and the staff is fantastic.

If you mix two well-traveled people, their families and a DJ, you get Sheridan and Tom's fabulous wedding!

Perfect weather and an 18-hole golf course were the backdrop for their big day at Riverview Country Club on June 1, 2014. I've photographed wedding receptions at the county club before and it's always fun to jump in golf carts and head out among the golfers for photos. Sheridan is the first bride I've seen jump on the back of a golf cart.

Becca and Mark get married at Penn's Peak in Jim Thorpe

My wife and I spent an afternoon last fall with Becca and Mark shooting their engagement pictures in Delaware Water Gap. We had a great time getting to know them and doing a photo shoot with them. Here's a link to my blog about the engagement session:

Then, Melissa Evanko and I teamed up for coverage on the wedding day. I started the day with Becca and her girlfriends at her house in Bethlehem. Melissa headed to the wedding site to connect with Mark and the boys. It's really great having two photographers on the wedding day. If you are planning your wedding you should really consider having two photographers.

Despite a rain shower 10 minutes before the ceremony, they still managed to tie the know outside at Penn's Peak in Jim Thorpe. The staff (and their florist) moved the ceremony spot under the deck at the last minute. Becca was still able to walk down the isle with her father. It was really touching! Go fly a kite (and get married too)!

Katia and Brian flew in from Germany to tie the knot at Louise W. Moore Park near Easton this spring. About a dozen family & friends gathered to watch them exchange their vows and say we do.

Luckily for us, there was a kite festival at the park on their wedding day. So naturally I asked them to go fly a kite. And of course, they did! They tied the knot in a really cool ceremony under an enormous tree and then had food and drinks afterwards. In between we checked out the kite festival and took some photos.

Inspiring photo shoot with an American hero!

My regular readers know that I love to photograph weddings but that I also love to shoot things non-wedding related. That was the case this week when I spent an afternoon with Rob Jones. Rob is 28 and three years ago his legs were lost to an IED while he was serving in Afghanistan with the US Marines. After years of surgeries and rehab, he is getting used to his new prossetic legs. But he is not just using them for walking.

Last year Rob decided to raise money for charities that work with veterans. Instead of volunteering for one, he had the idea to ride a bicycle from Maine to California and raise money before the trek and while he was on the road. So after months of planing, he set out from Bar Harbor with the goal of riding more than 5400 miles before rolling into San Diego in about seven months. I caught up with him three weeks into his trip as he rode through the Poconos.

Along his journey Rob is being supported by Steve, his friend from Virginia. Steve drives a converted U-Haul truck that serves as a kitchen, bike shop, closet and mobile motel room. His goal is ambitious: raise at least $1M to help his fellow veterans. Since Rob has no knees, he has to use muscles that no one else uses to peddle his bike. Part of his new legs are constructed from bicycle shocks made by a company named RockShox. The shocks allow him to pedal his bike.

Just last year Rob competed in the Paralympics in London and brought home a bronze medal in rowing. Not content to rest on his laurels, he's in the beginning stage an an amazingly brave journey. Engagement session with Rebecca and Mark!

Rebecca, Mark, Lindsey and I set out in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area to take photos for their engagement. We hit some of my favorite spots before we stopped at Cold Air Cave to poke around and take some pix.

From there, we went into Delaware Water Gap and stopped in Zoe's Ice Cream Shop at the Castle Inn. Frank, the owner, loved our idea for a photo shoot there and made us an amazing root beer float and some unbelievably good hot chocolate. Thanks to Frank for letting us take over the shop for our photo shoot!

At the shop we ran into Bill Lee, from Stroudsburg. If you know Bill you know he loves old cars and on that Sunday he was cruising in his 1932 Model B Ford. OK, let me make it clear so I'm not bombarded with messages from vintage car lovers- the Model B was a four cylinder and Bill's 1932 Ford is an eight cylinder so I'm not sure what it really is. If you know, please let me know.

We turned the car into a giant prop and had a great shoot. Lindsey and I are always on the lookout for cool and stylish props and settings for the engagement sessions we do. Regina and Chris's engagement session in downtown Bethlehem

Leading up to their wedding next summer at Skytop Lodge, Regina, Chris & I got together on Sunday to explore downtown Bethlehem and take pictures to celebrate their engagement. We started on the campus of Moravian College and then took a little bike excursion. We popped into Bethlehem Brew Works and ended up outside the Hotel Bethlehem. Beautiful Wedding at Valley Green Inn in Philadelphia

It's always exciting working at a new venue for the first time. I've always loved the Valley Green Inn but I had not photographed a wedding there until this September. I met with the bride and groom (who's names I'm withholding for their privacy) and I was thrilled when booked me to document their big day at Valley Green Inn in Philadelphia. Their intimate wedding sounded phenomenal and I wanted to be part of it.

Eighty guests gathered to hear the couple exchange their vows at Valley Green Inn in Fairmount Park. The weather was great and the setting on the Wissahickon Creek is a perfect spot for a wedding. The creek also makes a great backdrop for wedding formals. If wedding plans are not in your future, you should still stop by Valley Green Inn for lunch, dinner or a look around.

Marirose and Jim's wedding day starts with a bang

You really learn a lot about somebody when a vintage Rolls Royce crashes into their house on their wedding day. On Saturday, I learned what Marirose, Caitlin and Dr. Pat Grady are all about.

As Caitlin helped her sister finish getting ready for her big day, Pat and I were in the living room, taking a few pictures.

Without warning, it sounded like the house was collapsing around us. As the house shook, I thought is was an earthquake. When the noise stopped, we bolted out the front door. In the driveway we saw the classic white Rolls Royce that Pat had booked to drive Marirose to the wedding, had crashed into the garage. It took out the door and part of a brick wall.

Marirose and Caitlyn were right behind us and and were as shocked as we were to see the garage damage and the mangled front end of the Rolls. The driver, who was really shaken up and muttering a lot, said he lost his brakes in the Gradys' driveway.

The girls took a quick look at the scene and pretty much said 'that's insane- nobody's hurt- let's finish getting ready'. And that's exactly what they did. Twenty minutes later the family was in the back of a stretch limo and headed to St. Lukes Catholic Church like nothing ever happened!

The rest of the day went like this: beautiful wedding, fun photo shoot in Delaware Water Gap, cocktail hour, dinner and a big bash at Flander's Valley in New Jersey. The weather stayed fantastic, just like Marirose and Jim.

Lisa and Bruno's engagement shoot at Shawnee Inn

Diana and Joe's 'Lion King' themed wedding

Months of planning and work culminated in an amazing wedding for Diana and Joe at the Inn at Pocono Manor on Saturday.

Their 'Lion King' themed was my first themed wedding and I have to say it was fantastic. When the props Joe designed and built were lit by DJ Adam Skuba, the entire reception took on a surreal look. It was all one big amazing photo op!

Shawnee Inn and a perfect summer day for Jamie and Stephen's wedding!

With their families and friends surrounding them and the Delaware River behind them, Jamie and Stephen tied the knot at Shawnee Inn in the Pocono Mountains on Friday. It was a hot summer day and the wedding was perfect. Before we walked down to the river for the ceremony, we did the 'reveal' pictures on the steps of the inn.

This was Stephen, just before the wedding, making a last minute escape attempt (Jamie, it was a joke, of course).

The Delaware River frames every outdoor wedding at Shawnee Inn. It's one of my favorite places to photograph weddings in the Poconos.

The highlight of Jamie and Stephen's wedding was when Jessica (Jamie's best friend) surprised her by showing up at the wedding. Jessica was just ba after serving in Afghanistan as a military police officer. She flew into Newark just two hours before the wedding and drove to Shawnee. Jessica was stunned and thrilled!

Hot summer wedding at Bear Creek Mountain Resort

Gwen and Daniel decided to do 'first look' pictures before the wedding. Dan was stunned when he saw Gwen for the first time in her wedding dress.

With ski slopes, filled with mountain bikers, as the backdrop, the said their vows in front of 150 of their closest friends and families.

After the wedding and while the guests were enjoying a drink, we went back outside to do a few photographs at the alter. This is my fav!

The cocktail party, dinner and reception were all amazing and the staff at Bear Creek Mountain Resort did a great job. It's a great venue for a wedding and a perfect setting for wedding photography. And to Gwen and Dan, thanks for letting me be part of your day!

An engagement shoot on a rainy day in the Poconos

Tammy and Garry planned their wedding in a remarkably short time- as in six weeks! So we only had one window to shoot the engagement pictures. And like it's done all summer in the Poconos, it rained on our one day. None of us were deterred by the weather and we went ahead with the shoot at the Old Mill in Sciota, Pa. There are plenty of great places to photograph engagement sessions in the Pocono Mountains and the Old Mill is one of my faves!

We had a very small window when the rain let up enough to lose the umbrella and just shoot away. I always love doing engagement shoots at Old Mill and the natural setting made a great backdrop for Tammy and Garry.

I also love doing creative pictures of engagement rings and wedding bands. Here is my take on an engagement shoot in the rain. Erin & Jason's Saint Patrick's Day wedding in the snow

Gina Romeo and Steve Sando's wedding in Harrisburg

A mutual friend connected me with Gina and Steve in the spring of 2011. That's when we got together for their engagement pictures. Not long after, they booked me to be their wedding photographer. While most of my weddings are in the Pocono Mountains, I looked forward to the trip to photograph their wedding at Park Inn by Radisson in Harrisburg. Gina's father walked her down the isle at Park West Inn. About 80 friends and family were gathered to watch Gina and Steve exchange their vows.

These next three pictures are among my favorites from the wedding. They are all candid, spontaneous pictures. When brides talk about photojournalism wedding photography, I think this is what they mean.

My favorite moment at the wedding was when Gina and her father shared a dance. Gina's niece found a nice spot to watch them dance. I wanted to shoot the dance from the way she was watching it and I think it worked out great. Another example of photojournalism wedding photography.

The rest of the night was a ton or partying and dancing. Gina and Steve's families and friends make me feel so welcome that I felt like I was part of the wedding party. I know Gina and Steve are just beginning a lifetime of happiness together. They are two of favorite people I have ever photographed.

Reverend Alt performed the short ceremony during a perfect fall evening in the Poconos. After they said their vows, Ruth and Bruce, who live near Harrisburg, let me show them around Skytop Lodge and we found some nice spots to do a few more pictures.

Photographing weddings at Skytop Lodge is always a treat. I love the setting, the inn, the grounds and the staff. Skytop has so many photogenic backdrops and that gives so many options for bridal party shots. Even if you just stop at Skytop for lunch, I highly recommend spending some time here. And try to time it around a holiday to see world class themed decorations!

Korryn and Justin Cole tie the knot at Flynn's on the Hill, Phillipsburg, NJ

Korryn and Justin travelled from Harrisburg to get married at Flynn's on the Hill in Philipsburg, NJ in October. A perfect wedding setting on a great fall day in the Poconos. I started shooting at Korryn's parents' house with Korryn and her family. I had my assistant stick with Justin and the guys while they got ready for the wedding.

I met Karyn and Ed (who's wedding I will be photographing at Skytop Lodge early next summer) at the Old Mill in Sciota,Pa. earlier this summer. After a quick chat, we had at it and started shooting. Both Karyn and Ed were up for pretty much anything I asked them to do and I really like the engagement photos we made.

005 041 050 I always try to take advantage of a natural setting to add to the richness and texture of engagement shoots. There are plenty of photo ops for doing just that at the Old Mill.

043 051 052 Once I found out that Ed is a golfer, it was game on! I'm sure he will being playing a round or two at Skytop Lodge before the wedding in May.

Professional salsa dancers treated everyone to dance lessons. The music and energy were amazing! And thankfully I was shooting pictures and didn't have to dance!

Maggie's make-up artists are from Cancun. They were super-talented and very professional. It was great working alongside them.

The party that followed dinner was legendary. So many memorable moments.....

The next day we had some fun by the pool. When you have great models the pictures just happen naturally!

This blog and these pictures are dedicated to Maggie's father, the late Dan Schlitter. I'm sure he is smiling down on his children, Maggie and Derrick, and was so happy to share time with them in Mexico. You are truly missed...

Amazing end of wedding season...

Fall of 2011 was an exciting end of wedding season. I had weddings on consecutive weekends that could not have been any more different. The first was Halloween weekend in the Poconos. Yvonne and Larry were going to say their vows on Saturday, two days before Halloween. The stage was set for beautiful, autumn backgrounds for our formal pictures on the bridge after the ceremony at Famularo's in Paradise Valley in the Poconos, Pennsylvania.

The day before the wedding, when a winter storm warning was posted, Yvonne stayed optimistic and vowed to go on with the show. And wow did it snow...

Yvonne and Larry held their heads high and pledged not to let the snow derail the day they had worked so hard to plan.

We did the formal pictures inside as snow fell and the wind howled outside. We sneaked out for a few minutes for a picture in the snow.

I especially like this image where Larry is holding Yvonne's bouquet as they walk in the snow.

It was Halloween, after all! Yvonne's father was in the spirit.

The snow finally stopped around 10pm. Nearly a foot of heavy snow blanketed Paradise Valley. Fortunately, road crews had worked all day and night so we were all able to drive home safely. When it comes to wedding photography in the Poconos, you really never know what affect the weather will have.

The day proved that with perseverance and by working together, brides and grooms can overcome any obstacle. That kind of sets the stage for the rest of their lives, doesn't it?

One small moment, at one wedding last spring, inspired this new blog. While I've felt the urge many times to write about weddings and tell wedding stories in words to supplement my photographs, it wasn't until I was I was on a terrace, 51 stories above center city Philadelphia last April, that I knew I wanted to write a blog. Working in Philadelphia is always a welcomed change from my usual wedding venues in and around the Poconos.

It was on the terrace where I overheard a candid conversation between a bride and groom that led to this new blog. Megan Dugger and Chris Wilson's wedding at Top of The Tower in Philadelphia was winding down. The wedding and the reception were picture perfect. Family and friends had watched the two exchange vows with a skycrapers's view of Philly as their backdrop.

Megan's shoes, see picture, were perfect.

Chris was handsome and dapper with socks that matched his new bride's green shoes.

After the wedding and while the guest were enjoying drinks and hors d'oeuvres, we ventured to The Franklin Institute (one of my all-time favorite places). There was some hilarious goofing around and it was a great time. Check out a picture of a very good-looking group!

A fantastic dinner was followed by cutting the cake that Chris himself had designed- who knew he had it him?

Around 10'oclock, we convinced Dorothy, the wedding assistant at Top of The Tower, to allow the three of us to venture onto the terrace of the 51st floor for a quick photo shoot. The spring night was perfect and the view of Philadelphia and the surrounding landscape was jaw-dropping. Despite Dorothy's urging to wrap it up quickly, we stayed on the terrace for at least 20 minutes. Thanks Dorothy!!!

It's hard to say who was more excited- Megan and Chris were in awe of the view of the city they have spent so much time exploring together. Just married and sharing one of their first intimate moments, high above the city, seemed so fitting.

On the other hand, I took one look through the viewfinder and fell in love with the cityscape as their backdrop. The rooftop images perfectly captured their first quiet moment together as wife and husband with the lights of Philadelphia twinkling in the background.

We knew we had maxed out our time on the terrace and it was time to rejoin the party inside. As I stood near Megan and Chris and packed up my gear, I heard Megan say very softly to Chris, "I don't want to go back in there."

I was startled and I think Chris was too. Thinking something was wrong, and in a voice that only a loving husband could use, Chris quickly asked Megan why she didn't want to go back inside.

While I can't quote her verbatim, Megan responded by saying the following- 'I don't want to go back in there...when we do the party will almost be over and I don't want it to end.'

Her words struck a chord with me. They were nearing the end of their day- a day they had both planned and looked forward to for so long. Megan summed up the honesty and happiness of this realization in one poignant whisper. I was honored to be there, high above the city of Brotherly Love, with two people so in love.

Sarah and John get married near Snoqualmie, Washington

When Sarah and my cousin John asked me to be to photograph their destination wedding near Snoqualmie,Washington, I was thrilled! Of course, just like Sarah, I said yes. While most of the weddings I photograph are in the Pocono Mountains, I jumped at the chance to work in the Cascade Mountains.

It was an amazing trip to Seattle and then through Snoqualmie Pass to their wedding spot in Easton, Washington. It was even better that I was with family and getting to document Sarah and John's big day.

The rehearsal dinner was outside on the deck. My niece, Blythe, rang the dinner bell. Is the the cutest thing ever? Yes, it is!

A perfect western sunrise set the stage for a perfect wedding day at Mountain River Lodge in Easton, Washington. It was an amazing outdoor ceremony with Sarah and John, their families, good friends and their dog, Caffrey (R.I.P. Caffrey).
